Why ice cream? I’ve always loved ice cream and have many memories of going out for ice cream with my family at the lake each summer. When I was a teenager I became interested in weight lifting and nutrition but ice cream remained my favorite dessert.

How did you get started? In college I bought a small ice cream machine and started experimenting with different flavors. I would make small batches almost daily and give pints away to family and friends.

I began researching ice cream production and realized that mix-ins are just as important as the base, so I started making my own mix-ins from scratch.
I eventually attended the world famous ice cream course at Penn State. As I gained more knowledge and experience, I realized this could turn from a hobby into a business!

What’s your favorite flavor to make? Bee My Honeycomb is one of my most popular flavors; it’s fun but tricky to make. Getting the candy just right so that it lightly caramelizes into the base, yet maintains a slight crunch, is a challenge.

What are some highlights for your business? Bee My Honeycomb won Best New Flavor at the National Ice Cream Convention in 2020.

I’ve also received blue ribbons (the highest award) for Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry several years in a row, which earned me a Grand Master Ice Cream Maker Award in 2021.

However the best reward is when someone comes into the shop and raves about their favorite flavor!
