Can you share some highlights from your culinary career thus far?
A significant milestone was my promotion to Service Manager at The Neighbors Place under Kevin Labor’s mentorship. This role provided invaluable insight into the operational aspects of restaurant management beyond the kitchen. Building upon this experience, I took on the role of Executive Chef at Iron & Ale, overseeing its establishment from the ground up.
This venture was followed by opportunities to launch additional restaurants, including 221 Tap & Table. Moreover, engaging in consulting has allowed me to share my knowledge and contribute to the growth of others in the industry.
How did you curate your Lynchburg Restaurant Week menu?
The Lynchburg Restaurant Week menu was thoughtfully designed by highlighting current favorites from our existing offerings, ensuring our community could savor these beloved dishes. We also introduced select new items, providing guests with a preview of upcoming additions and enriching their dining experience.

Can you tell us a bit about your culinary background and how you got started as a chef?
My journey into the culinary world began unexpectedly, rooted in my experience as a bouncer. Big Mike, Michael Childress recognized a potential in me that I had yet to acknowledge. He took the time to guide me through the entire menu, nurturing my skills until I felt confident. For him, it was never just about cooking; it was about lifting me out of the shadows. Before I realized it, I had developed a profound love for the culinary arts.
The adrenaline, passion, and dedication required to be a chef completely captivated me. I dedicated myself to becoming the best chef I could be, diving deep into the study of various cultural cuisines, experimenting with new ingredients, and continually pushing my boundaries to improve.
As Marco Pierre White wisely stated, ‘’Those who are good at cooking do so because they teach themselves, question everything, and remain curious.” I strive to embody this philosophy; I refuse to settle and will always seek to challenge myself and learn more.
